(Primary Accountabilities)
The FDN Project Manager develops a detailed project plan that will be used to lead the project execution and control. He dictates what deliverables can be expected at various project milestones. Specific components of a typical project plan include the following:
FDN Project Scope Management - should changes be requested in the project scope, a change management system will be put into effect.
FDN Project Time Management - the baseline schedule, captured in a 'Gantt' chart, within which all work packages are scheduled and milestones marked.
FDN Project Quality Management - the systems put in place to ensure customer satisfaction with the product. Whether that product is an input into a work process engaging an internal ‘customer’ or it’s the final end product. The OTSCOM Project Manager works to build the quality policies and objectives for you as our customer.
FDN Human Resource Management - the processes put in place to make the most effective use of the people involved with the project, including sponsors, customers, vendors, and individual contributors of the customer.
Otscom Project Communications Management - the processes put in place to ensure the timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination and storage of project information. The Project Manager will carefully compile a plan of who will require which information, when it is required and how best to deliver it. Frequency of the Project Reviews between OTSCOM Project Manager and Customer Project Manager are agreed during the initial Implementation meeting.
FDN Project Risk Management - includes the identification of project uncertainties, the classification if uncertainties are either opportunities or risks and the action plan custom developed to handle each accordingly.
Project Management Tools, Productivity Aids, and Project Management Systems Microsoft Project Software - overall project management and report generation.
Gantt Charts, Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) Charts, Critical Path Method (CPM) Charts - a consistent framework for planning, scheduling, monitoring and controlling the project.
WBS Chart Software (Work Breakdown Structure) - identification of project tasks, estimation of work assignments, time commitments and scheduling requirements.
Communication Tools - electronic mail systems (internal, Internet), Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
Project Management Tools
OTSCOM utilizes Project Management tools such as Microsoft Project V4.0 for preparing WBS, Gantt schedule charts, communicating task responsibilities and preparing project progress reports.
The project team communication is of high importance for the OTSCOM Manager. Business tools such as:
- Face-to-face meetings
- Tele-conference calls
- PC fax
- Internet E-mail and file transfer
All of the above will be utilized on a regular basis for team communications.
The FDN Project Team and the Customer Project Team will hold regular meetings during the implementation phase. These meetings will ensure that the necessary information is provided timely as required.
